Blake Griffin Announces Retirement from NBA
Six-time All-Star Forward Calls it Quits
Griffin, 35, played 13 seasons in the NBA, earning six All-Star selections and the 2011 Rookie of the Year award.
Blake Griffin, a six-time NBA All-Star and former No. 1 overall pick, announced his retirement from the league on Tuesday. Griffin, 35, last played for the Boston Celtics during the 2022-23 season.
Griffin's retirement marks the end of a successful 13-year NBA career. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft and quickly became one of the league's most exciting young players.
During his time with the Clippers, Griffin was named an All-Star six times and was selected to the All-NBA Second Team three times. He also led the Clippers to the playoffs seven times, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2018, where he spent two seasons before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2021. He was then traded to the Boston Celtics in 2023, where he finished out his NBA career.
